When I bought a Ford, I did so because of the name, a name of reliability and not for the link with driving through water! But can I congratulate the company which built the car, I was never sure what the ‘ S’ stood for in S Max but now suspect it is ‘seaworthy’, although if you were using Beaumont Road last week, ‘submarine’ would also have been an option. Normally the 0 to 60 is about 9 seconds but on that day it was Vue to Marsh Mills roundabout in an hour and ten minutes, still I did manage to pick up speed later and got the old girl up to 6 knots through Plympton. Apparently there was another problem on Gyndia Way, not sure what the issue was this time, something like an ice cream van had capsized or Somali pirates had hijacked the 49 City Bus service. I did see two workman wandering down the strangely quiet main route out of Plymouth at rush hour, wearing hard hats…rain gives me split ends as well….but after a moment or two they wandered back up, past the motorists moored up for the evening and away into the night to view the waterfront properties of Cattedown Road. Still, Lipson on Sea was breathtaking that evening,
the lights of the buses twinkling beside Lake Tothill, fed by the Jephson Road waterfall. Could I suggest, if the Americas Cup comes back to us, how about a new circuit from The Range to Dunelm, back up past the Christian centre, down past the bookies with the finish in Hele’s Terrace. They could moor in the puddle on Embankment Road….all year!
Anyway, on higher ground, can I congratulate the person who has stuck up the home made posters for a special evening in a local nightclub, which will have to remain anonymous. The spellchecker was invented for people like you and me whose English ain’t what is shoud be… but I look forward to seeing who turns up at the shingles night you are advertising.
Right, that’s enough from me this week. I am back off upstairs for the torture of television viewing that the enemy, the good lady wife, has in store for me. She has recently found the Christmas Movie Channel on the satellite service, which has been running since November, showing American ‘I love you mommy’ films, 24 hours a day. Having sat through three in one afternoon, she has now hidden any and all cutlery. There is only one thing worse than the Christmas Movie Channel in my opinion, the Christmas Movie Channel plus one! Which she has also discovered. Actually I will correct that, there is one worse televisual feast I sat through recently…..in fact I walked through it. Whilst at the gym the other day, on the cross trainer, for forty minutes I had to watch Formula One with the sound down. Try it! It has all the entertainment value of staring at the same car number plate on Gyndia Way for an hour and ten minutes.
Yours
